Case Description
1. On January 22, 2025, the FSB in Vologda announced the detention of 34-year-old former candidate for deputy of the local city duma Andrey Novikov. A criminal case was opened against him for calls for terrorism. According to the version of the security forces, the man promoted joining the 'Russian Volunteer Corps.' On January 22, 2025, Judge Viktoriya Kalmykova of the Vologda City Court sent Novikov to a pre-trial detention center at the request of the investigation. On May 19, 2025, the 1st Western Military District Court found Andrey Novikov guilty and sentenced him to a fine of 400 thousand rubles. The man was released from custody in the courtroom. On August 15, 2025, the Appellate Military Court left the verdict in force.
