Case Description
In the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, on the night of May 16-17, 2015, a 22-year-old Ukrainian citizen, Andrei Kolomiytsev, was detained. He was accused of attempted murder of two persons in connection with the performance of their official duties, committed on the grounds of political and ideological hatred, as well as illegal possession of drugs in a large amount. According to the investigation, on January 20, 2014, in Kyiv during clashes on Hrushevsky Street, Kolomiets, being a member of the 'Ukrainian Insurgent Army,' threw two bottles with incendiary mixture at employees of the Crimean 'Berkut,' causing their clothing to catch fire. Additionally, according to the investigation, on May 16, 2015, in Kabardino-Balkaria, he collected 152.3 grams of hemp, which were later discovered during an inspection of the car he was traveling in. For the duration of the investigation, the defendant was placed in a pre-trial detention center. On June 10, 2016, Judge Mikhail Belousov of the Kievsky District Court of Simferopol found Andrey Kolomiyets guilty and sentenced him to 10 years in a strict regime colony. 27 October 2016, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Crimea left the sentence unchanged. June 1, 2023, the appellate court reduced the sentence by 4 months — to 9 years 8 months in a strict regime colony. On January 15, 2025, Kolomiets was released from the colony after serving his sentence, but he was immediately detained and placed in a Temporary Detention Center for Foreign Nationals for 90 days, since. he does not have registration and a passport that would allow him to cross the border of Russia. Currently, it is not possible to carry out the deportation procedure due to the conduct of the special military operation, as the borders of Ukraine are closed and does not respond to requests from state bodies of the Russian Federation, the document also states. In July 2025, Kolomiytseva was deported from Russia to Georgia, but at the Upper Lars checkpoint, Georgian border guards detained him and placed him in a basement at the checkpoint. On July 10, 2025, he was allowed to cross the border and sent to Ukraine.
