Case Description
In Irkutsk at the end of August 2024, a criminal case was opened for justifying terrorism against 25-year-old blogger and anti-war activist Andrey Kolesnikov. It is unknown what became the reason for the criminal prosecution. In social networks, Kolesnikov published posts on how to avoid mobilization, was subscribed to the publics of Alexei Navalny's team, called himself a pacifist and ran an anti-war YouTube channel with 136 subscribers. On August 29, 2024, Judge Yulia Nevidalovskaya of the Lenin District Court of Irkutsk chose Kolesnikova as a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions. On January 23, 2025, the 2nd Eastern District Military Court found Andrey Kolesnikov guilty and sentenced him to a fine of 400 thousand. rubles. 23 April 2025, the Appellate Military Court toughened the sentence, sentencing the defendant to 2 years of imprisonment in a general regime colony. Kolesnikova was taken into custody in the courtroom.
