Case Description
In Kemerovo, on September 8, 2023, at the airport during check-in for a flight, 36-year-old local resident Andrey Kanunnikov was detained. A protocol was drawn up against him for an administrative offense under the article on disobedience to the lawful demands of FSB security officers in connection with the performance of their official duties. According to the security forces, Kanunnikov, 'being at the address: city of", Kemerovo, pr. Soviet, 65, did not comply with the lawful demands of an employee of the Federal Security Service Directorate to enter the reception area of the FSB for questioning, did not respond to repeated appeals and demands, and attempted to evade FSB employees. The next day, on September 9, Judge Dmitry Toroshchin of the Central District Court of Kemerovo sentenced Kanunnikova to 14 days of administrative arrest. After serving his administrative arrest, a criminal case was opened against the Kemerovo resident for attempted state treason and participation in the activities of a terrorist organization. According to the investigation, the man tried to leave for Ukraine to fight for the Ukrainian army. According to the FSB, the man corresponded via messenger with an "unidentified Ukrainian coordinator" and agreed to go to Ukraine to participate in the military conflict against Russia. It is claimed that the man filled out an application form to join a paramilitary organization, and also purchased a uniform, a first aid kit, communication devices, plane and train tickets. The court placed Kanunnikov under arrest. On March 20, 2024, the 2nd Eastern Military Court found Andrey Kanunnikov guilty and sentenced him to 9 years in a strict regime colony. The court also fined Kanunnikov 500 thousand. rubles. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
