Case Description
On June 29, 2023, in the Irkutsk region, unknown individuals set fire to a relay cabinet on the railway section "Cheremhovo—Zabituy. The cabinet that provided traffic light operation burned out completely by the time the firefighters arrived. However, there were no casualties or disruptions to train traffic as a result of the arson. On July 22, 15-year-old Matvey and 16-year-old Andrey Belousov were detained on charges of arson. Law enforcement claims that during a search, bank cards, laptops, SIM card packages, balaclavas, backpacks, and canisters with flammable substances were seized from the teenagers. After the search, Matvey was released on his own recognizance, while Andrey was detained. A criminal case was opened against Belousov for sabotage committed by a group of persons, and the young man was placed in a pre-trial detention center. Whether charges have been brought against Matvey is unknown. On May 29, 2024, the Irkutsk Regional Court found Andrey Belousov guilty. The sentence is unknown. It was not appealed and came into force.
