Case Description
In Evpatoria, in annexed Crimea, on the night of March 21, 2025, after searches, a family was detained—a 56-year-old Tatyana Malyar, her brother, 50-year-old Valentin Malyar, Tatyana's son, 38-year-old Anatoly Rossikhin, and Tatyana's daughter, 32-year-old Olga Begey. Their arrest was concealed from relatives for more than a week.
The family was charged with treason and illegal trafficking of weapons and ammunition; details of the charges are unknown. The defendants were placed in pre-trial detention. Relatives suspect that torture was applied to the detainees. They believe the prosecution is because the family moved to Crimea from Lviv before its annexation.
No later than February 2026, Olga Begey was released from pre-trial detention.
