Case Description
On March 15, 2023, a search was conducted in the city of Lobnya, Moscow Oblast, at the home of a 75-year-old local resident and pensioner, Anatoly Roshchin. Computers, phones and other equipment, as well as the Ukrainian flag, were confiscated from him and his wife. After that, the man was taken for questioning at the Investigative Committee in the city of Khimki, Moscow Region. Roschina was accused of repeated "discrediting the Russian army. The reason for the criminal prosecution was three posts on VKontakte, in which Russia was called a "fascist" state, and the war was called "aggression. 'Glory to Ukraine and shame on the aggressors,' one of the messages ends. The pensioner was placed under house arrest for the duration of the investigation. Earlier, on March 29, 2022, the Lobnya City Court fined Roshchin in a case of an administrative offense under the article on discrediting the army for a single picket near the city administration building with a poster "MY COUNTRY, YOU'VE GONE MAD. UKRAINE, FORGIVE ME FOR AGGRESSION. On August 3, 2023, the Lobnya City Court found Anatoly Roshchin guilty and fined him 100 thousand. rubles. The court also prohibited Roshchin from holding government positions for one year. On October 12, 2023, the Moscow Regional Court upheld the main punishment in the form of a fine, annulling the additional punishment in the form of a ban on activities.
