Case Description

In Khabarovsk, at the end of December 2022, a criminal case was opened against a local 57-year-old resident, Anatoly Lancekhov, on charges of justifying terrorism and illegal possession of ammunition. The reason for criminal prosecution under the article on justification of terrorism was three publications in "Odnoklassniki. According to the security forces' version, Lanchekov wrote: 'Let's drive out the f*****s from Pyatigorsk, neither camps nor madhouses. In this country of lawlessness... by both military and civilians, because they are accomplices and criminals!!!", It is claimed that during a search of Lanchekov's house, 126 5.6-mm caliber ammunition were seized. The court sent the Khabarovsk resident to a pre-trial detention center. Later, a new criminal case was opened against Lanchekov - for "fakes" about the Russian Armed Forces and insulting the feelings of believers. The reason was an anti-war post on "Odnoklassniki" that he posted in March 2022. The investigation claims that Lanchekov wrote that 'the purpose of the special military operation is to capture Ukrainian territories,' and also accused Russian soldiers of killing civilians in Bucha and supported the 'Freedom of Russia' legion. Furthermore, the investigation believes that Lanchekov insulted the feelings of believers by calling to 'ignore traditional Christian values'. It is noted that he "actively participated in protest actions with various political demands" and considers himself a "citizen of the RSFSR, not recognizing the legitimacy of the Russian Federation as a sovereign state. In total, there were 14 episodes in the case. On June 14, 2024, the 1st Eastern District Military Court found Anatoly Lanchekov guilty and sentenced him to 8 years in a general regime colony and a two-year ban on posting appeals and other materials on the internet. February 4, 2025, the Appellate Military Court left the sentence unchanged.
