Case Description
On March 5, 2024, in annexed Crimea, security forces kidnapped Anatoly Kobzar, a 43-year-old resident of Bakhchisarai, a Ukrainian citizen with forced Russian citizenship. Almost nothing was known about him for almost two years. Only in October 2025 did the FSB of Crimea confirm to Anatoly's relatives that the man was in custody: he was first held in 'special blocks,' and later hidden in a Crimean pre-trial detention center. A criminal case of treason was opened against a Crimean man. According to the Russian security forces' version, Kobzar allegedly photographed the locations of air defense systems in Crimea and directly in Sevastopol and passed this data to Ukrainian intelligence. No later than October 13, 2025, the Leninsky District Court of Sevastopol granted the prosecution's motion and placed the defendant in a pre-trial detention facility.
