Case Description
In October 2023, a criminal case was initiated in Vologda for justifying terrorism against a 46-year-old local resident, activist Anatoly Burov. The reason for the criminal prosecution was a certain video recording in a Telegram channel, in which, in the opinion of law enforcement officers, the ideology and practice of terrorism is recognized as correct, in need of support and imitation, and also contains calls for the implementation of terrorist activities. On October 26, 2023, the Vologda City Court of the Vologda Region sent the activist into custody. On May 1, 2024, the 1st Western District Military Court found Anatoly Burov guilty and sentenced him to five years in a general regime colony. September 25, 2024, the Appellate Military Court left the sentence unchanged.
