Case Description
An activist from Prohladny is suspected of defamation. According to the search warrant for Emelyanova, an unknown person in Prokhladny no later than September 2, 2021, spread false information about the activities of entrepreneur Zhanna Makhova in the Oryol region, thereby harming her reputation." Emelyanova herself links the criminal prosecution to her criticism of the war in Ukraine. According to Yemelyanova, on her Instagram page she spoke out against the partial mobilization announced in Russia on September 21. Emelyanova also publishes her opinions on other socially significant issues there. She wrote in April and May that she considers the decision to attack Ukraine to be unreasonable and short-sighted.
