Case Description
In April 2023, a criminal case was opened against former Moscow municipal deputy Anastasia Bryukhanova for "fakes" about the Russian army. The case was prompted by a YouTube video in which Anastasia spoke about the involvement of Russian military personnel in the deaths of civilians in Bucha. The investigation considered this information to be "knowingly false. The video was published on December 23, 2022. Breyhanova herself is not in Russia. On June 1, 2024, she was placed on federal wanted list, and on June 29, on international wanted list. On July 20, Judge Sabina Ragimova of the Khoroshevsky District Court of Moscow chose a preventive measure for Anastasia Bryukhanova in the form of detention in absentia. 19 November 2024, the Khoroshevsky District Court of Moscow found Anastasia Bryukhanova guilty and sentenced her in absentia to 8 years in a general regime penal colony. The court also prohibited Bryukhanova from administering websites on the Internet for 4 years.
