Case Description
In the village of Novoaydar in the occupied part of the Luhansk region, Ukrainian citizens Natalya Dzhus and Anastasia Bayova were detained no later than October 2022. In addition, they were accused of aiding in the intentional destruction of another's property by means of an explosion and of using means and methods prohibited by an international treaty of the Russian Federation in an armed conflict. According to the Russian investigation, from June to September 2022, Dzhus, at the suggestion of a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, agreed to assist in fire adjustment. She involved her acquaintance Bayova in this activity. The women collected and transmitted through messengers to the Ukrainian special services information about the deployment of the Armed Forces of Russia and the LPR, as well as about temporary accommodation points for refugees in the Novoaidar Agricultural College and on the territory of a private agricultural enterprise. It is claimed that on their tip-offs, the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out missile strikes on these facilities. As a result, one civilian was killed, others were injured, and property was damaged for a total of 28 million. rubles. The Ukrainians were sent into custody for the duration of the investigation. Russian authorities sentenced Natalia Dzhus to 20 years in a general-regime penal colony and Anastasia Bayova to 19 years in a penal colony of the same regime, finding them guilty of their involvement in the case no later than March 7, 2025.
