Case Description
In May 2023, it became known that a criminal case was opened in Moscow against local resident Anastasia Ageyeva for "fakes" about the Russian army. The reason for the criminal prosecution was two posts on VKontakte - the first was published in April 2022 on behalf of a user with the nickname Gertrude Gate. The second post appeared on Instagram in September of the same year - it was published by a user under the pseudonym birdintheoceans. The investigation believes that both posts belong to Ageeva. Ageyeva left Russia in July 2022. She was placed on the federal wanted list and arrested in absentia. In December 2023, the girl was charged in absentia, with the article being aggravated: Ageyeva was accused of spreading 'fakes' about the Russian army motivated by political hatred. On March 25, 2024, Judge Vladimir Kuznetsov of the Lyublinsky District Court of Moscow found Anastasia Ageeva guilty and sentenced her in absentia to eight years in a general regime colony. The court also deprived Ageeva of the right to engage in activities related to website administration for a period of 4 years. July 17, 2024, the Moscow City Court upheld the verdict.
