Case Description
In Tyumen, on August 1, 2024, local residents were detained: Arslan Abdulla, a 45-year-old imam of the Kazanovskaya Mosque 'Khadija,' and Alisher Dedamirzaev, a 59-year-old former imam of the Cathedral Mosque named after Umar ibn al-Khattab. They were charged with recruiting people to participate in terrorist activities in Syria, financing a terrorist organization, and publicly justifying and propagating terrorism.
According to the investigation, Abdulla and Dedamirzaev recruited 19 people to participate in the activities of the 'Islamic State' organization from February 2015 to November 2022. Additionally, the defendants called on citizens to collect money to finance terrorists. The security forces also established that Arslan Abdulla published a sermon online that experts found contained signs of justifying terrorism.
The court placed the defendants under arrest.
