In Ukhta, Republic of Komi, on August 28, 2024, local 20-year-old resident Alexey Sobolev was detained. On the same day, the Sosnogorsk City Court of the Republic of Komi sent Alexei to administrative arrest for 15 days. Within a few days, he was taken to Ukhta, where a criminal case was opened against him for calls to terrorism. The reason for the criminal prosecution was four comments against the war in Ukraine and criticizing the Russian authorities, as well as about the Russian Volunteer Corps and Azov. It is claimed that the young man left comments on Youtube under videos from the opposition channel "Popular Politics" as well as "Bobochon 88. He also wrote two more comments under posts in the Telegram channel 'Solovyov's Droppings'. The first comment states that "the rf army and putin are nazis, and ztniks are also nazis"; the second one says "Yes, Ukraine is defending itself against Russian fascists, Glory to Ukraine, Glory to the RDK. According to the decision to initiate a case, on August 12 and 13, Sobolev left comments in the Telegram channel 'Solovinyi Pomët'. In one post, he wrote "Glory to Ukraine. Forward, RDK. Belarus lives. White people forward and Putin is a fu***. In another: 'And why not? Azov is power. After the search, Soboleva was detained. The Ukhta City Court sent him to a pre-trial detention center. On April 2, 2025, the 1st Western Military District Court found Alexei Sobolev guilty and sentenced him to 6 years in a general regime colony and deprivation of the right to administer websites and channels on the internet for 3 years. On September 1, 2025, the Appellate Court left the sentence unchanged.
