Case Description
In July 2023, a criminal case was opened in Kurgan for "fakes" about the Russian army against a 26-year-old local activist, the former head of the Kurgan headquarters of Navalny, Alexei Schwarz. The reason for the criminal prosecution was the publication of a certain video on Telegram. Details are unknown. Schwartz himself left Russia. He was put on the wanted list. On October 18, 2023, the Kurgan City Court of the Kurgan Region found Alexey Shvarts guilty and sentenced him in absentia to six years in prison. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
