Case Description
In Saransk in March 2023, a criminal case was initiated for publicly justifying terrorism against a local 29-year-old resident, Alexei Podolsky. The reason for the criminal prosecution was a comment in the public "Uboynyy yumor" on "VKontakte, published in October 2022, about the explosion on the Crimean Bridge: "good present, well done Ukrainians!" True patriots of their country!" 5. The resolution on the initiation of a criminal case notes that Podolsky is "an opponent of the current authorities and the special operation." The man partially admitted his guilt: he confirmed that he had left the specified comment, but emphasized that he did not agree that he had approved the commission of a terrorist act. In March 2024, it became known that Alexey Podolsky was able to leave Russia.
