Case Description
In late August 2022 (the exact date is unknown), a criminal case was initiated in St. Petersburg for the rehabilitation of Nazism against a local 44-year-old resident, Alexei Naumov. According to the investigation, the Petersburg resident, using the nickname "Bronislav Kaminsky," commented on posts in the public "Race," denied the Holocaust, and "discredited the feat of Hero of the Soviet Union Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya." During the investigation, the man was placed under a written undertaking not to leave. On March 28, 2023, another episode was added to the case: the investigation believes that in January of last year, "Bronislav" left a comment on the page of a certain user, allegedly approving the actions of "the main war criminals of European countries." On August 24, 2023, the St. Petersburg City Court found Alexei Naumov guilty and sentenced him to compulsory labor in a correctional center for a term of 2 years with a deduction of 20% of his salary to the state. The court also deprived Naumov of the right to engage in activities related to the placement of materials in public information and telecommunications networks, including the Internet, for a period of 3 years. The sentence was not appealed and entered into force.
