Case Description
In Tyumen in March 2024, a criminal case was opened for 'fakes' about the Russian army on the grounds of political hatred against a local resident, engineer Alexey Chursin. Charges were brought against him for several comments on the topic of the war in Ukraine, including about the events in Bucha, made two years ago on VKontakte. On March 21, a search was conducted in his house, during which laptops, phones and flash drives were seized. After that, the man was taken to police department No. 5 in Tyumen, where he was interrogated for about six hours. Before the choice of a preventive measure, the Tyumen resident was placed in a temporary detention center. The next day, on March 22, the Leninsky District Court of Tyumen placed Chursin under house arrest. At the end of May 2024, it became known that Chursin was able to leave Russia.
