Case Description
On July 28, 2024, in Pskov, local resident and citizen of the Republic of Belarus Alexei Bibin was detained, who, being in a state of alcohol intoxication, attempted to cook food on the Eternal Flame on the territory of the Memorial Complex in the Square of Fallen Fighters. A criminal case was opened against him for desecrating symbols of Russia's military glory and publicly insulting the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland. On August 1, 2024, the Pskov City Court, upon the petition of the investigator of the Investigative Department for Pskov of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Pskov Region, chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for the case defendant. February 12, 2025, the Pskov Regional Court found Alexey Bibin guilty and sentenced him to 1 year and 11 months of imprisonment to be served in a penal colony-settlement. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
