Case Description
In Michurinsk, Tambov region, on March 17, 2021, a criminal case was initiated against a 36-year-old local resident, left-wing activist Alexey Abramov. He was charged with public justification of terrorism.
According to the investigation, Abramov published online materials in support of the anarchist Mikhail Zhlobitsky, who committed an explosion in the FSB building in Arkhangelsk in October 2018. The security forces also considered him a supporter of the protest movement "Permanent Meeting of National-Patriotic Forces of Russia", which supports the terrorist organization "Minin and Pozharsky People's Militia". The case was triggered by an internet comment from 2018 in which Abramov called on law enforcement to come to their senses, stop fabricating extremism cases, and stop beating peaceful protesters.
There is no information on the measure of restraint.
On July 15, 2021, the 2nd Western District Military Court found Alexey Sergeyevich Abramov guilty and sentenced him to a fine of 350,000 rubles. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
In 2023, the court considered the prosecution's request to replace the fine with other non-custodial penalties; the decision on the request is unknown.
