Case Description
On March 15, 2024, in the Moskovsky District of St. Petersburg, on the first day of voting in the 2024 Putin election, around 3:00 PM, 21-year-old Alexandra Karaseva threw a Molotov cocktail at the porch of School No. 358, where two polling stations, UEC 1395 and UEC 1396, have been operating since morning. The target was an election poster. She was immediately detained by the police. In May 2022, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow issued an arrest warrant for them in absentia. The police said that the girl allegedly explained that she received the assignment to set fire from some "Ukrainian Telegram channel, and she was promised payment. A criminal case was opened against Karaseva for obstructing the exercise of electoral rights or the work of election commissions, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy or an organized group." On March 16, the Moscow District Court of St. Petersburg issued a ruling to choose a measure of restraint for Karasyova in the form of detention. On August 26, 2024, the Moskovsky District Court of St. Petersburg found Alexandra Karaseva guilty and sentenced her to 1.5 years of imprisonment in a settlement colony. December 12, 2024, the St. Petersburg City Court upheld the sentence.
