Zhigun Aleksandr Sergeevich

On March 28, 2024, in Mineralnye Vody, Stavropol Krai, 39-year-old local resident Alexander Zhigun was detained. A criminal case was opened against him for treason, participation in a terrorist organization, attempted terrorist attack as part of a group of persons, as well as illegal manufacture and storage of explosives and explosive devices. According to the investigation, on February 10, 2024, Zhigun contacted a member of the Ukrainian paramilitary association "Azov" and, having recorded a video address, joined its ranks. From February 13 to March 28, 2024, he selected targets for a terrorist attack on the territory of the Stavropol Territory, conducting photo and video recording, after which he agreed with an 'Azov' member to blow up and set fire to the customs building. On March 16, Zhigun rented a garage, and on March 19–20, he purchased components and manufactured homemade incendiary and explosive devices, which he stored in this garage. He was unable to use explosives because. he was detained. The man was placed in a pre-trial detention center. November 5, 2025, the Southern District Military Court found Alexander Zhigun guilty and sentenced him to 20 years in prison, the first 4 years he must serve in prison, and the remaining term in a strict regime correctional colony.
