Case Description

On June 1, 2025, Ukrainian drones struck 4 military airfields simultaneously in Ivanovo, Murmansk, Ryazan, and Irkutsk regions. As a result of the special operation "Spiderweb, drones hit 34% of strategic cruise missile carriers at Russia's main airfields. It is reported that first the SBU sent FPV drones to Russia, and then - mobile wooden containers (houses). Later in the territory of the Russian Federation, drones hid under the roofs of containers placed on trucks. Remotely, at the right moment, the lids opened and the drones rushed to strike Russian bombers. In total, 41 aircraft of the Russian strategic aviation were hit during the operation. Published videos from the Security Service of Ukraine showed strikes on the 'Olenya', 'Ivanovo', 'Dyagilevo', and 'Belaya' air bases. The SBU reports the destruction of Tu-95, Tu-22, Tu-160 aircraft, as well as An-12 and Il-78. The footage confirms, among other things, the strike on the long-range radar detection aircraft A-50. On June 1 and 2, 2025, the drivers of Scania trucks, in which drones were located on the day of the attack, were detained. In the Ryazan region, the driver of the truck was 47-year-old Sergey Kanurin, in the Ivanovo region - 56-year-old Mikhail Ryumin, in the Murmansk region - 56-year-old Alexander Zaytsev, in the Irkutsk region - 62-year-old Andrey Merkuryev. On June 3, 2025, the Olenegorsk City Court of the Murmansk Region sent Alexander Zaitsev into custody. Later that day, the Oktyabrsky District Court of Ivanovo sent Mikhail Ryumin to a pre-trial detention center. The trucks from which drones attacked Russian air bases were registered to one person - 37-year-old Artem Timofeev, a resident of Chelyabinsk Oblast and a native of Ukraine. He was put on the wanted list. Another long-haul truck driver, 62-year-old Vasily Pytikov, died in the explosion when he tried to extinguish the burning truck.
