Case Description

On October 27, 2015, Alexander Zamyatin, a 30-year-old engineer and football fan with nationalist views, was detained in Kirov. A criminal case was opened against him for organizing the activities of an extremist organization." After the Kirov Regional Court liquidated the Kirov Regional Public Organization "Football Club Dynamo Kirov Fans Club" in August 2013 due to extremist activities, Zamatin decided to continue its work, according to the investigation. From October 2013 to November 2014, from his page on the social network "VKontakte" under the pseudonym "Bratva Vlasti, he posted on the page "Leadership of the Fan Club of FC "Dynamo" Kirov" informational materials of a nationalist and fan-oriented nature: the young man allegedly published materials about various club events, such as meetings, processions, trips, etc., on one of the pages in the social network." Some of the published materials were xenophobic in nature and contained images of Nazi symbols. It is also claimed that he managed to involve several residents of Kirov in the club's work. For the duration of the investigation, a preventive measure was taken against the defendant in the form of a written undertaking not to leave. On October 27, 2015, the Leninsky District Court of the Kirov Region found Alexander Zamatin guilty and sentenced him to 2 years in a general regime penal colony. He was taken into custody in the courtroom. On December 17, 2015, the Kirov Regional Court left the verdict unchanged.
