Case Description
Alexander Voevodin, a 58-year-old local resident and entrepreneur, was detained in St. Petersburg in March 2025. He was accused of cooperating on a confidential basis with a foreign state to the detriment of Russia. The reason for the criminal prosecution was cooperation with the People's Republic of China. The details of the charges are unknown. On March 14, 2025, the Nevsky District Court of St. Petersburg placed the businessman under house arrest, but the court in appeal on March 25 changed the measure of restraint to detention.
