Case Description
In occupied Luhansk, no later than April 2024, a 45-year-old local resident, Ukrainian citizen Oleksandr Verba, was detained. He was accused of participating in the activities of an extremist organization. According to the Russian security forces' version, since October 2022, Verba had been a member of the organization 'Right Sector', recognized as extremist. It is claimed that in 2022, Verb participated directly in combat operations against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on the territory of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. The defendant in the case was placed in the SIZO. No later than May 29, 2025, Kamennobrodsky District Court of Luhansk found Alexander Verba guilty and sentenced him to 5.5 years of imprisonment to be served in a general regime colony. No information about the appeal is available.
