Case Description
In March 2022, in the occupied Crimea, in Alushta, a criminal case was opened against a local resident, Alexander Tarapon, for "fakes" about the Russian army. The reason for the criminal case was leaflets that Tarakan, according to the investigation, hung on the gates of his relative's house - a Rosgvardia officer Yuriy Orlenko - his photograph with the inscription "Zdes lives a Military Criminal, killing children Orlenko Yu. On March 30, 2022, security forces came to Tarapon with a search and detained him. For the duration of the investigation, the Alushta City Court of the Republic of Crimea sent him to a pre-trial detention center. On October 21, 2022, the Alushta Court found Alexander Tarapon guilty and sentenced him to 2.5 years in a strict regime colony. On January 17, 2023, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Crimea upheld the verdict.
