Case Description
On December 10, 2024, in Mariupol, occupied Donetsk region, a minor local resident, a Ukrainian citizen with forced Russian citizenship, Alexander Syrov, was detained. He was accused of espionage and treason." According to the Russian investigation, the Mariupol resident was collecting data on the deployment of Rosgvardia employees near the city for Ukrainian special services, as well as carrying out other assignments from Ukrainian special services to gather information about Russian military personnel. The defendant in the case was sent to a pre-trial detention center. On July 31, 2025, the Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic found Alexander Syrov guilty and sentenced him to 7 years in a general regime penal colony."]} The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
