Case Description
On January 11, 2023, in the village of Lyubimovka in the occupied part of the Kakhovsky district of the Kherson region, 25-year-old local resident, citizen of Ukraine Alexander Sunagatulin, was abducted from his own home. He was accused of espionage. According to the version of Russian law enforcement, the man passed the coordinates of Russian artillery positions to Ukraine. For the duration of the investigation, the defendant was placed in a pre-trial detention center. On December 6, 2023, the Rostov Regional Court found Alexander Sunagatulin guilty and sentenced him to 11 years in prison to be served in a strict regime colony. 14 May 2024, the Third Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction left the sentence unchanged.
