Case Description
In Moscow, at the end of March 2024, upon arrival in Moscow, 28-year-old ultra-right Georgian activist of the 'Dabruneba' movement, Alexander Sakania (Vishnyakov), was detained. First, he was arrested twice under the article on petty hooliganism - on March 28, the Kuntsevo District Court of Moscow sentenced him to 13 days, and on April 10, 2024, the Golovinsky District Court of Moscow sentenced him to 15 days. According to police officers, Sakaniya 'used obscene language, shouted, behaved aggressively, waved his arms, and did not respond to repeated lawful demands from a police officer on duty to stop his illegal actions.' In late April, a criminal case was opened against the activist for participation in the activities of a terrorist community, a terrorist organization, and an illegal armed formation, as well as for assisting terrorist activities. According to the investigation, Sakaniya, while in Georgia from August 25, 2022 to February 19, 2024, joined the organization 'Russian Volunteer Corps.' He was collecting materials about Russian citizens for their subsequent transfer to Ukrainian territory to participate in combat operations against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. He also agreed with the organization "Georgian National Unity" to provide a training ground for the preparation of future members of the "RDK" and persuaded another person to participate in the activities of this organization. On April 27, 2024, Koptevsky District Court of Moscow sent Sakania to a pre-trial detention center. January 13, 2026, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Alexander Sakaniya guilty and sentenced him to 19 years in prison, the first 5 years he must spend in prison, and the remaining part of the sentence - in a strict regime colony. The court also fined him 500 thousand. rubles and restriction of freedom for 1 year.
