Case Description
A criminal case about military 'fakes' against producer Alexander Rodnyansky was opened due to three posts on Instagram and one post on Telegram. Rodyansky is charged with Instagram posts from March 11, 2022, about the Russian attack on the maternity hospital in Mariupol, from March 16, 2022, about the killings of peaceful Ukrainian citizens by Russian military personnel, as well as an Instagram post published on October 10, 2022, which speaks about attacks by the Russian army on civilian targets in Kyiv, Dnipro, and Zaporizhzhia, and a similar publication in his Telegram channel. On October 21, 2024, a woman in a robe Natalya Sudar, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow, in absentia found Alexander Rodnyansky guilty and sentenced him to 8.5 years in prison to be served in a general regime correctional colony." The court also deprived Rodnyansky of the right to administer websites on the Internet for 4 years. On February 24, 2025, the Moscow City Court upheld the verdict.
