Case Description
In the occupied part of the Kherson region, no later than November 2023, a 45-year-old local resident, Ukrainian citizen Alexander Protsyuk, was detained on charges of espionage. According to Russian security forces, the man was passing coordinates of the locations of National Guard of the Russian Federation units to Ukrainian special services. For the duration of the investigation, the defendant was placed in a pre-trial detention center. On January 11, 2024, the Rostov Regional Court found Alexander Protsyuk guilty and sentenced him to 11 years in a strict regime colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
