Pletnyov Aleksandr Sergeevich

On June 21, 2023, in Moscow, 23-year-old Alexander Pletnev and 37-year-old Alexei Gurikov were detained. The next day, on June 22, a criminal case was opened against the men for preparing to commit sabotage as part of a group of persons by prior conspiracy. According to the investigation, Pletnev and Gurikov, being opponents of the special military operation, conspired to set fire to transport infrastructure objects in the Moscow region. They contacted an acquaintance who, for monetary reward, persuaded people to commit acts of sabotage in the interests of Ukraine. Having received instructions and coordinates of relay cabinets from him at the "Reutov" station, the men prepared a crowbar, a backpack, a lighter, a mask, a canister of gasoline and drove to the scene of the crime. However, they were unable to reach the object, as the movement of electric trains stopped. Pletnev and Gurikov returned home, where they left the instruments of the crime, intending to commit arson later, but they were detained. On June 23, Judge Varvara Oganova of the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow, at the request of FSB investigator Svyatoslav Shurygin, sent both men to a pre-trial detention center. On May 13, 2025, the Moscow Oblast Court found Aleksey Gurikov and Aleksandr Pletnev guilty. Gurikova was sentenced to 6 years of imprisonment, with the first 3.5 years to be served in prison, and the remaining part in a strict regime correctional colony. Pletnev was sentenced to 6 years imprisonment with a fine of 8,000 rubles, to be served in a prison for the first 3.5 years and the remainder in a strict regime correctional colony, in addition to a previous sentence. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
