Case Description
In November 2023, a criminal case was opened in Tolyatti against local resident Alexander Pegankin for 'fakes' about the Russian army and calls for terrorism on the internet. A search was conducted at the man's registered place of residence, his parents were interrogated as witnesses, and Pegankin himself was put on the wanted list. The reason for the criminal prosecution was anti-war publications, details are unknown. In December 2023, the Central District Court of Tolyatti placed a man under house arrest in absentia. Pegankin and his wife openly expressed their opposition to the war in Ukraine online, his wife was detained at protests and threatened with having their parental rights to their son revoked. All three are not in Russia.
