Case Description
In Sevastopol, in annexed Crimea, at the end of July 2020, the FSB reported the detention of a 41-year-old local resident, a senior lieutenant of the Marine Corps who had served in the Russian Black Sea Fleet for more than 10 years, Alexander Obloga, on charges of treason. The man was detained on the street near the car while he was talking to his acquaintance. The man was placed in a pre-trial detention center for the duration of the investigation. In August 2020, it became known that Dmitry Shtyblikov, who was serving his sentence in a colony, had a new criminal case opened against him—for treason." According to the Russian security forces' version, in 2014 after Crimea's accession to Russia, Shtyblikov, on assignment from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, remained on the peninsula and obtained Russian citizenship. Getting a job as a civilian employee in one of the Black Sea Fleet military units, he collected and passed to the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine information constituting a state secret about the activities of military units stationed in the Republic. In November 2020, Shtyblikova was transferred from a strict regime colony in Omsk to Moscow, where on November 18, the 2nd Western Military District Court, at the investigator's request, chose a measure of restraint for the man in the form of detention in Lefortovo SIZO." "It is more likely that in late December 2020, the cases of Shtyblikov and Obloga were merged into one proceeding. On April 27, 2022, the Southern District Military Court found the defendants guilty and, in combination with the previous sentence, sentenced Dmitry Shtyblikov to 19.5 years in a strict regime colony with a fine of 200 thousand. rubles, and sentenced Alexander Obloga to 13 years in a strict regime colony and deprived him of the military rank of "senior lieutenant. 6 September 2022, the Military Appellate Court left the sentence unchanged.
