Case Description
In Chelyabinsk at the end of March 2024, FSB officers detained a 50-year-old local resident, Alexander Novosad. He was accused of state treason, publicly justifying terrorism, and publicly calling for extremist activities. According to the investigation, from October 2022 to May 12, 2023, Novosad contacted a representative of Ukraine and made five money transfers totaling 15 thousand rubles. Additionally, he published identical comments in the Telegram channels "Krem", Chelyabinsk of the Future", "NeXTALive", Rospartisan" and "Rosbunt", among which were phrases such as "Death to Putin", Glory to Ukraine", Freedom to the Ural Republic", Helping Russian citizens fighting on the side of Ukraine is the task of all Russians, leading to the overthrow of the Kremlin regime", as well as "ISIS, work, brothers. For the duration of the investigation, the defendant in the case was placed in a pre-trial detention center.
