In the Simferopol district of annexed Crimea on March 30, 2025, a criminal case was opened against 35-year-old native of Ulyanovsk Alexander Marakin and 42-year-old native of Simferopol Alexander Mynaylo. They were accused of committing a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior conspiracy. The next day, on March 31, 2025, they were detained. According to the investigation, on March 30, 2025, the men conspired and set fire to two relay cabinets at Chistenkaya station. As a result of the arson, the cabinets were completely destroyed. It is claimed that the damage to the FSUE 'Crimean Railway' from the arson amounted to over 1 million rubles. During the interrogation, the men reported that unknown persons in the messenger had promised them $200 for the arson. April 2, 2025, the Zheleznodorozhny District Court of Simferopol chose detention as a preventive measure for the defendants in the case.
