Case Description
On November 13, 2022, in Moscow on the territory of the Patriot park, during the so-called combat coordination of mobilized and volunteers, an incident occurred between Private Alexander Leshkov and Lieutenant Colonel Denis Mazanov. Leshkov, in raised tones, expressed his grievances to Lieutenant Colonel Denis Mazanov regarding the equipment and, in his opinion, insufficient fire training of mobilized and volunteer soldiers. Then he insulted the officer, blew cigarette smoke in his face, and pushed him in the chest. All these actions, as well as the dialogue itself, were recorded on video by the accused's fellow servicemen, and then posted on social networks. The video that caused a great resonance became one of the pieces of evidence in the prosecution of Leshkov for committing violent acts against a superior during mobilization or martial law. 10 February 2023, the Second Western Military District Court already toughened the sentence for Leshkov from 5.5 to 7 years in a strict regime colony. Previously he was sentenced to five and a half years in a strict regime colony. His wife suffers from a serious illness, and Leskov has two small children dependent on him.
