Case Description
On August 1, 2023, in the village of Vostok in the Primorsky Krai, a 58-year-old native of Khakassia, a resident of Nova Kakhovka in the Kherson region, Alexander Kozhedub, was detained on a civilian vessel that had entered the port for loading. First, he was sent three times under administrative arrest for 15 days on fabricated protocols of administrative offenses, and on September 8, 2023, he was charged with treason. The reason for the criminal prosecution was money transfers totaling 5,090 rubles to various foreign organizations to provide material assistance to the Ukrainian army. The man was sent to a pre-trial detention center. On October 8, 2024, the Primorsky Regional Court found Alexander Kozhedub guilty and sentenced him to 12 years in a strict regime penal colony. On January 17, 2025, the Fifth Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction left the sentence unchanged.
