Case Description
Russian citizen, head of the Kherson track distance of the Odessa railway, 61-year-old Alexander Kerekesha, was abducted from his apartment in occupied Kherson on September 13, 2022. Subsequently, a criminal case was opened against him for organizing sabotage. According to the version of the Russian security forces, while holding the position of head of the Kherson track distance of the Odessa railway, Kerekesh gave instructions to subordinates to damage the switch points of the Kherson railway station, which led to its inability to be used for transportation in the interests of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. By June 6, 2024, the Kherson Regional Court found Alexander Kerekesh guilty and sentenced him to 6 years and 6 months of imprisonment, with the first year to be served in prison and the remainder in a strict regime correctional colony. The sentence entered into force.
