Case Description

In July 2023, a criminal case was opened against local resident Alexander Kapustin in the village of Beryozovka, Krasnoyarsk Krai, for the repeated 'discrediting' of the army. The reason for the criminal prosecution was an anti-war comment that Kapustin, according to the investigation, left in Telegram in January 2023. Among other things, it said: "Google Bucha, Mariupol!" Turn on critical thinking. Our tsar, the president, started all this to stay in power as long as possible. It is unknown whether a preventive measure has been chosen. Earlier, in September 2022, Kapustina was fined in a case of an administrative offense under the article on discrediting the armed forces due to a solo picket in July — then he stood with two posters: against the war and in support of Alexandra Skochilenko, Victoria Petrova and Maria Ponomarenko, persecuted in cases of "fakes" about the army, and Lilia Chanysheva, persecuted in a case of involvement in an extremist community." The picket "was accompanied by a musical composition." On February 26, 2024, the Berezovsky District Court of the Krasnoyarsk Territory suspended the hearing of the case on the merits due to the fact that Kapustin went into hiding.
