Case Description

On July 9, 2023, Alexander Gudim, a 57-year-old resident of Sevastopol, was detained. A protocol was drawn up against him for an administrative offense under the article on "discrediting" the Russian army, and a criminal case was opened for calls to terrorism. Cases were initiated based on Gudim's neighbors' reports: on October 8, 2022, a neighbor filed a complaint against him, alleging that the drunk neighbor allegedly attacked the residents of the house and shouted 'glory to Ukraine.' 3. Also, on July 9, 2023, another neighbor wrote a statement to the head of the OMVD for the Leninsky district of Sevastopol against Gudim, stating that on that day at 11:15, being at his home on Khrustaleva Street, Gudim shouted phrases 'Glory to Ukraine', 'No SVO, no war', 'demands the overthrow of the power of V.V. Putin, destroy 2-4 entrances and includes songs of the Reich. The third neighbor of Gudim gave an explanation that he "shouted obscenities in the direction of V.V. Putin and the SMO, listens to Nazi music. The fourth neighbor told the police that Gudim "on a regular basis demands the overthrow of V.V. Putin and believes that the conduct of the SVO is a horror. On September 11, 2023, the Leninsky District Court of Sevastopol fined Alexander Gudim 30 thousand. rubles under the article on the "discrediting" of the Russian army. At the court hearing, Gudim did not agree with the charges, stated that he did not say such words, but explained that "life was better under Ukraine, expressed an extremely negative attitude towards the conduct of the special military operation and towards the Russian Federation as a whole, and expressed regret that in the house where he lives "not a single Ukrainian" remained. The reason for the criminal prosecution for calls to carry out terrorist activities, according to the security forces, was that Gudim, on one of the evenings, being on the balcony of his apartment on Khrustalyova Street, shouted anti-Russian and anti-government slogans, including in a radical form, calling for "the overthrow of the current constitutional order in the Russian Federation. It is unknown whether a preventive measure has been chosen. On April 16, 2024, the Southern Military District Court found Alexander Gudim guilty and sentenced him to one and a half years of imprisonment in a penal colony-settlement. On June 27, 2024, the Appellate Military Court changed the verdict, increasing the punishment to two years in a penal colony-settlement.
