Case Description
Crimea: In the occupied Donetsk region, no later than September 2023 (the exact date is unknown), criminal cases were opened against Ukrainian citizens Karina Dutko and Alexander Goncharuk for treason and espionage. Dutko has acquired Russian citizenship. The details of the charges are unknown. The court placed the Ukrainians in custody. On September 7, 2023, the Supreme Court of the Donetsk Republic found both defendants guilty and sentenced Karina Dutko and Alexander Goncharuk to 12 years in a general regime colony and 10 years in a strict regime colony, respectively. On February 5, 2024, the First Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction left the verdict unchanged.
