Case Description
In the Volgograd region, a criminal case was initiated against 40-year-old Alexander Gladchenko, a native of the Kyiv region, no later than September 2023. He was accused of organizing assistance to terrorist activities. The date of his detention is unknown. According to the Russian investigation, Gladchenko, holding the position of commander of the battalion of the separate unmanned systems regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, planned an attack on a military unit in the Volgograd region. In the opinion of the security forces, he pursued the goal of intimidating the population because of his disagreement with the accession to Russia of the DNR, LNR, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions. To carry out the terrorist attack, Gladchenko recruited subordinate military personnel. On September 7, 2023, they carried out a strike using the UJ26 "BEAVER" (Beaver) fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicle, loaded with explosives and shrapnel. As a result of the raid, no one was injured. September 29, 2025, the Southern Military District Court found Alexander Gladchenko guilty and sentenced him to 17 years in prison, with the first 3 years to be served in prison and the remainder in a strict regime penal colony. On January 27, 2026, the Appellate Military Court changed the verdict, details are unknown.
