Case Description
In Vladimir, on October 9, 2024, the police conducted a search at the home of 47-year-old Alexander Germizin, secretary of the local branch of the "Rassvet" (Dawn) party. A criminal case was opened against him for public calls to terrorism. According to the FSB, in October 2022, the man published a series of messages in open Telegram chats "calling on people to organize terrorist acts, including explosions of Russian government buildings."
Also on that day, as part of the case against Germizin, the police searched the home of Yulia Grekova, head of the democratic movement "Dialogue," and Andrey Borisov, coordinator of the Vladimir branch of the "Rassvet" party. Expensive equipment was seized from Grekova. According to Duntsova, the activists have no connection to Germizin.
On October 10, 2024, the Oktyabrsky District Court of Vladimir remanded Germizin in pre-trial detention.
On February 5, 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Vladimir Germizin guilty and sentenced him to 2 years in a general-regime penal colony. The court also imposed a 2-year ban on administering websites.
The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
No later than November 2025, a second criminal case was opened against Germizin, who was serving his sentence in a penal colony in the Vladimir region. He was charged with high treason and financing extremist activities.
According to the investigation, from March 2022, over a period of two years, the man transferred money to finance the armed forces of Ukraine, nationalist formations, and the extremist organization "FBK" (Anti-Corruption Foundation). For the transactions, the defendant, who previously held the position of secretary of the "Rassvet" party, used a cryptocurrency exchange and electronic payment applications.
During the investigation, the man was transferred to pre-trial detention center No. 1 in Vladimir.
On March 9, 2026, the Vladimir Regional Court found Alexander Germizin guilty and sentenced him to 15 years in a maximum-security penal colony, 1.5 years of restricted freedom, and a 2-year ban on administering websites and social media accounts. Additionally, the court ordered the confiscation of a monetary sum equivalent to the total amount of his transfers.
On June 1, 2026, the First Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction upheld the verdict unchanged.
