Case Description
In the Tula region, no later than September 2024, a criminal case was opened against Alexander Churikov, who was serving his sentence in the Correctional Colony No. 5 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Tula Region. He was accused of repeatedly publicly displaying Nazi and extremist symbols. According to the investigation, in September 2024, Churikov, serving his sentence in the IK-5 Correctional Colony of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Tula Region, publicly demonstrated tattoos on his collarbones to convicts and colony staff. The tattoos are Nazi symbols and symbols of the international public movement 'Arrestant Criminal Unity,' which is banned in Russia. Earlier, Churikova had already been brought to administrative responsibility for a similar offense. In court, he admitted his guilt. During the investigation, Churikov was placed under a written undertaking not to leave and to behave properly. On March 4, 2025, the Don Military Court found Alexander Churikov guilty and sentenced him to 1.5 years of imprisonment. The final term, in combination with the previous sentence, amounted to 4 years of imprisonment in a strict regime correctional colony with a one-year restriction of liberty. Churikova was taken into custody in the courtroom. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
