Case Description
Alexander Babkin, a 50-year-old local resident, engineer-designer at the Rostvertol helicopter plant, was detained in the Rostov region no later than May 2023. First, he was twice arrested on cases of administrative offenses under the article on petty hooliganism, and then the man was accused of treason. According to the investigation, the engineer corresponded with an employee of the GUR in one of the messengers for two months and passed information about Rostvertol to the Ukrainian intelligence officer. Babkina was transferred to Moscow, where on May 16, 2023, the Lefortovo District Court of Moscow chose a measure of restraint for him in the form of detention. It is known that the man is an active opponent of the war, he wrote anti-war comments in Nevzorov's Telegram channel. On February 12, 2025, the Rostov Regional Court found Alexander Babkin guilty and sentenced him to 12 years in a strict regime colony.
