Case Description
In the Ivanovo region, no later than February 2024, a criminal case was initiated against 44-year-old prisoner, Belarusian citizen Alexander Abramovich, for repeated demonstration of Nazi symbols. According to the investigation, while serving his sentence at the IK-2 Correctional Facility of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Ivanovo Region, the defendant, previously held administratively liable for displaying tattoos, continued to publicly demonstrate tattoos with Nazi and similar symbols, including images of swastikas and Adolf Hitler, to other convicts and correctional facility staff. He did not attempt to hide these images. On November 12, 2024, the Palekh District Court of the Ivanovo Region found Alexander Abramovich guilty and sentenced him to 1 year and 6 months of imprisonment. Taking into account the unserved part of the sentence from the previous conviction, the court sentenced him to a final punishment of 5 years of imprisonment in a strict regime correctional colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
